The Immanuel College Parents’ Guild is a vibrant and pro-active parent body, working alongside the school in a variety of different ways.
We have a network of class representatives whose role is twofold: to act as a communication channel between the school and parents and secondly to organise a variety of social activities throughout the school year.
These events held raise funds and reinforce the family atmosphere of the school.
Last year our first Sports Awards Evening was held. This rewarded children for their sporting achievements and raised money to upgrade the fitness suite and provide additional equipment for the PE department.
Our annual Supper Quiz brings together parents from the preparatory and senior school together with staff. The funds raised benefit all of our children.
Through the Parents Guild we have been able to provide the science department with three state of the art microscope on-line cameras. These allow the pupils to access a film of their experiments and individually annotate them. In addition, we have been able to purchase a Reuben’s Tube for the Physics Department, which allows the students to see the pattern of waves in an innovative and original way.
We have provided funding for eclipse glasses for every pupil in the school, so that they can all view the maximum and partial eclipse on March 20th during the school day.
The Parents’ Guild continues to support the Green Power Project, in which our pupils are building and will race their own car. We also provide funding for the School Minibus, our Young Enterprise groups, the Year 13 leavers’ books and various ad hoc items throughout the year.
Tzedkah and Chesed, charity and acts of kindness are key to life at Immanuel and we mirror this by raising funds for a variety of external charities as well. This year we held a week of fundraising activities for Macmillan Cancer Support. This included the pupils organising a colour themed Grand Snack Sale together with a Parent Coffee Morning and Preparatory School gift bags. We support GIFT, a London based charity which inspires and educates our children whilst simultaneously helping those in need. This is being run in conjunction with the school Beit Hamidrash. We also give of our time and work alongside Shevet Achim (the school’s wonderful charitable wing) and support the pupils in making and distributing sandwiches for the homeless, as part of the Manna from Heaven Project.
We would love you to get involved whether you have an hour a term, an hour a month or an hour a week. There are so many ways you can help. You will find us friendly, warm and sociable and it’s a great way to meet other parents.
