Sophie’s Heartfelt Tribute for the NHS
All at Immanuel are very proud of Sophie Tinger (Year 6) who has tried to lift the spirits of NHS workers who are risking their lives helping people with Coronavirus by singing them a very special song.
Sophie sang a beautiful rendition of Vera Lynn’s classic “We’ll Meet Again” after being inspired by the line in the Queen’s address to the nation last Sunday night. She sent her song to her cousins who work for the NHS to cheer them up, and another cousin, who works for the Mirror newspaper, showed it to his editor, who liked Sophie’s singing so much that he decided to feature her and her story in the newspaper.
Sophie, who has been singing since she was 5, says music helps her whenever she has a problem and so hopes that this song will help others in the same way.
She told Mirror Online: ‘This song means a lot to me because I would like to meet my friends and family again but I don’t know where and when. It gives people joy and hope, just like it did in the war.”
