IMMANUEL COLLEGE’S A-LEVEL GRADES SOAR FAR BEYOND UK AVERAGES
- A*/A grades outstrip national average by 111%
- Immanuel’s top marks outperform both independent and selective grammar schools’ averages by significant margins
- 100% of all marks in Art, Further Maths, Modern Hebrew and Sociology achieve A*/A
- 100 % of Immanuel College’s EPQ’s achieve top possible marks (A*/A)
- 100% of BTEC students achieved Distinctions*, Distinction or Merits
Despite toughened grade boundaries as part of a national trend to return to pre-pandemic results, Immanuel College achieved 57% top A*/A grades (59% with BTEC) -- more than double the national average of 27%. In addition to exceeding comprehensive schools’ average top-grade results by 160%, the UK’s only mainstream Jewish independent 4-to-18 school also surpassed selective grammar schools by close to 50% and outperformed other independent schools by nearly a quarter.
PROGRESSING TO CHOSEN DESTINATIONS
The vast majority of Immanuel College students are now proceeding to their first choice of university. The next steps for Immanuel College Class of ’23 alumni include, amongst many other successes, two top-ten American universities (ranked above several famous Ivy League institutions and with equally selective acceptance rates of less than 6%); numerous Russell Group settings – featuring offers and places in the highly competitive field of Medicine; a coveted degree apprenticeship in industry; and one of the world’s most elite degree programmes for Art and Design.
CREATIVE & INDEPENDENT THINKING ABOUNDS
Immanuel College’s strength in nurturing its students’ creativity showed up across the board. This year, 100% of the College’s Art & Design A-Level candidates achieved the top possible grade of A* -- compared to the subject’s 2023 national average of just 13%. Thirty-seven students stretched beyond A Levels to undertake Extended Project Qualification (EPQ). All of them achieved top marks (A*/A).
ENTREPRENEURS’ LAUNCH PAD
In line with the College’s proud tradition of producing more leading entrepreneurs than any other British school, today’s A-Level results suggest the trend will continue. Nationally, fewer than a third (29%) of Economics candidates secured top (A*/A) marks whereas a remarkable 62% of Immanuel College’s secured the top A*/A scores. Similarly, 90% of the College’s students who studied Business achieved top possible BTEC distinctions.
DIVERSE & INCLUSIVE
In line with the College’s individualised learning approach, all Immanuel students are supported in their studies and given expert 1:1 support through the universities and higher learning process.
Three-quarters of students with SEND achieved A-B in their A-Level marks. Girls have succeeded in a wide range of subjects, with 86% achieving A*-B compared with 71% of boys – both well above the national averages for all subjects of 52%.
Immanuel College Head Master, Dr Millan Sachania, comments:
The breadth of achievement earned through the hard work and talent of our students -- supported by expert teachers and our wider school community -- fills me with pride today. This group of pupils faced both the tremendous disruption of lockdown and toughened grade boundaries; yet they have shown strength, imagination and limitless potential. Each of them an individual, our students continue to stretch themselves beyond expectation and deserve hearty congratulations.
